Ending or losing a pregnancy deserves respect, community, support, and dialogue. Suffering and trauma are not inherent to these experiences: they are situational, subjective, and largely culturally inflicted. With holistic education and soulful support we can help alleviate undue suffering and nourish vital force through these transformational experiences.

Holistic Abortion and Miscarriage Support Training was created for doulas, midwives, activists, doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, social service providers, yoga instructors, acupuncturists, community advocates, and anyone who cares for fertile people who wishes to nurture them through pregnancy loss and termination experiences. This offering is meant to help fortify respect and understanding for the process of healing an integrated and whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

We will first establish a foundation of anatomy and physiology education and gain a deeper understanding of a multitude of both spontaneous and deliberate pregnancy release processes, including first and second trimester losses, terminations by a variety of methods at all gestations, missed abortions, miscarriages, and others. Upon this physiology-based foundation we will build skills and expand knowledge by exploring a robust variety of options for holistic healing.

As a special treat to help us integrate our learning and be fully present for this workshop, we will have yoga lead by Dublin’s own Kitty Maguire Yocella, Yoga, Women’s health & Retreats.

In our time together we will explore the following questions and more:

>>How do people experience abortions and miscarriages in all their varieties?

>>What foods, plant medicines, and other practical choices facilitate physical healing?

>>How can we support people with spirituality, ritual, and ceremony?

>>How do we offer excellent compassionate, non-jugdmental, non-medical & heart centered attention?

>>What natural pain coping techniques such as visualization, massage, breathing, mantras, & other ‘doula tools’ are useful in support of all pregnancy releases?

>>How can we help people identify & express their feelings, values, & intentions?

>>How can we encourage a healing experience through the abortion or miscarriage?

Participants will come away with:

>>An opportunity to examine their own feelings, values, and intentions in an intentional safe space

>>A wealth of resources including hotlines, healers, books, & websites

>>Perspective on what’s normal, what needs extra support, and how to offer this support

>>Space to process their own experiences and relationship to this subject matter

About your facilitator:

Samantha Zipporah is a fertility and sexuality educator, activist, and advocate. A former birth doula whose roots of study can be found deep in traditional midwifery “womb to tomb” style care, Sam supports her peers with a full spectrum of fertility, sexuality, and pregnancy experiences in personal, professional, and clinical contexts. She provides vital life changing education for everyone from professional colleagues to preteens. Her approach is grounded in a solid understanding of biochemistry and biology, and nourished by playfulness, sass, and reverent spirituality. She believes the mind, body, and spirit connection deserve reverence and respect. Friends have joked that her business tagline should be, “If anything’s going in or out of a cervix, call Sam.

About Kitty Maguire

Kitty Maguire is a yoga teacher based in Dublin.

Her teaching styles are focused on moving and being inspired by our inner and outer women, seasons, cycles and moon.

Ongoing learning in Womans health, from Uma DInsmore Tulli and Alexandra Pope. These women are huge inspirations to Kittys teachings in menstrual and fertility health and awareness.

Yoga for woman and reconnecting to our bloodline and menstrual cycle gives us an insight and wisdom many of us have forgotten.

Using nourishing and supportive practices like Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Womb & Yoni Yoga, Restorative Yoga and delicious juicy Hatha Yoga to bring a deeper awareness and connection to your body.

Giving you time a space for healing and releasing wounds and stories held tight within, bringing freedom and more compassion into our whole body and spirit.

Kittys offerings on this very special weekend will be a blend of the above teaching styles to replenish and restore vitality, nurture a woman’s body throughout tender times, exhaustion, stress and womb cycles.
